Welcome to Water of Life. This privacy policy explains how our plant care tracking app handles your information. We believe your plant care data is yours and yours alone.

2. Information We Collect

Water of Life stores the following information locally on your device:

• Plant Information: Names, species, notes, and photos you add
• Care Records: Watering and fertilizing history with dates and intervals
• Organization Data: Plant groups you create
• Preferences: Notification settings and reminder times

What We DON'T Collect

• ❌ Personal identifying information (name, email, phone number)
• ❌ Location data
• ❌ Usage analytics or tracking
• ❌ Device information beyond what's needed for the app to function
• ❌ Advertising identifiers

3. How We Use Your Information

All data collected is used solely to:

• Display your plants and their care history
• Calculate when plants need watering or fertilizing based on learned patterns
• Send you local notifications as reminders (if you enable them)
• Sync your data across your devices via iCloud (if you enable iCloud)

4. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your plant data is stored in your private iCloud account using CloudKit. This data:

• Is encrypted in transit and at rest
• Is only accessible by you and your signed-in devices
• Is managed by Apple's iCloud infrastructure
• Can be deleted at any time from your iCloud settings

Photos

Plant photos you add are stored as part of your plant data (locally and/or in iCloud if enabled). We compress photos to JPEG format (0.8 quality) to save storage space.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third parties. Period.

Your plant data never leaves your device except to sync with your own iCloud account (if you enable that feature). We don't have servers, databases, or any infrastructure to collect your data.

6. Third-Party Services

Water of Life uses only Apple's built-in frameworks:

• SwiftData: Local database storage
• CloudKit: Optional iCloud sync (your private iCloud account)
• UserNotifications: Local notification reminders
• PhotosUI: Access to your photo library (when you choose to add photos)

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

7. Permissions

Water of Life requests the following permissions:

Notifications (Optional)

Used to send you daily reminders about plants that need care. These are local notifications generated entirely on your device. You can enable/disable this in app settings at any time.

Photos (Optional)

Used only when you choose to add a photo to a plant. We only access photos you explicitly select. You can use the app without ever granting photo access.

iCloud (Optional)

Used to sync your plant data across your devices. This requires iCloud to be enabled on your device. The app works fully offline without iCloud.

8. Children's Privacy

Water of Life does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages.

9. Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: All your data is visible within the app
• Edit: You can edit or delete any plant, record, or group at any time
• Export: Your data is stored in standard Apple formats (SwiftData/CloudKit)
• Delete: Delete the app to remove all local data. Disable iCloud sync to remove cloud data

10. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you use the app. When you delete the app:

• All local data is permanently deleted from your device
• iCloud data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it
• We have no copies of your data on any servers

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. International Users

Water of Life is available worldwide. Since all data is stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud account, data processing occurs in your location and wherever Apple maintains iCloud infrastructure for your region.

13. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for processing your data is:

• Consent: You provide explicit consent by using the app's features
• Legitimate Interest: Processing is necessary to provide the core functionality of the app
