1. Information We Collect

Miles collects and stores the following information locally on your device:

• Vehicle Information: Vehicle names and types (fuel-powered or electric) that you create
• Mileage Entries: Date, odometer readings, fuel/energy amounts, and costs for each entry you add
• User Preferences: Your preferred currency, distance units (kilometers/miles), and volume units (liters/gallons)
• Last Used Vehicle: The vehicle you most recently selected for quick access

2. How We Use Your Information

The information collected is used solely to:

• Display your vehicle fuel consumption and mileage statistics
• Calculate fuel efficiency and costs
• Generate historical charts and trends
• Remember your preferences for units and currency
• Provide a personalized experience within the app

All processing happens locally on your device.

3. Data Storage and Synchronization

Local Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData, Apple's native data persistence framework.

iCloud Synchronization (Optional)

In release builds of the app, CloudKit integration is available to sync your data across your own Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID. This synchronization:

• Uses your personal iCloud account
• Is end-to-end encrypted by Apple
• Only syncs across devices you own and control
• Can be disabled by turning off iCloud for Miles in your device settings
• Does not share your data with us or any third parties

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third parties.

Miles does not:

• Send your data to our servers (we don't have any servers)
• Include advertising networks or trackers
• Use analytics services that collect personal information
• Share data with data brokers or marketing companies
• Integrate with social media platforms

5. Data Security

Your data security is ensured through:

• Local storage on your device protected by iOS security features
• iCloud encryption for synchronized data (when using iCloud)
• No transmission of data over the internet to third-party servers
• Protection by your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• Individual Entries: Delete any mileage entry by swiping left on it in the History view
• Vehicles: Delete vehicles and all associated entries through the Settings screen
• All Data: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. To remove iCloud data, turn off iCloud for Miles in your device settings before uninstalling

7. Children's Privacy

Miles does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is designed for users who own and operate vehicles. There are no age restrictions on using the app, but it is not directed toward children under 13.

8. International Users

Miles works worldwide and supports multiple currencies and unit systems. All data remains on your device or in your personal iCloud account, regardless of your location.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app and on this page, with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account, you have complete control and ownership of your information. You can:

• Access all your data directly within the app
• Modify or delete any information at any time
• Export your data through iOS backup features
• Control iCloud synchronization through iOS settings
